Digital Perm at Beauty Brick

I got a DigiPerm!

Yes, am a hard-headed - risk taker - stubborn lady. After reviving my hair from a dreaded effect of rebond treatment, i finally give in! A digi perm at Beauty Brick Salon at Makati with my best friend.

My BFF and i have been discussing digi perm for months before we finally decided to take the plunged last Nov 23 2013.

We did our reseach and was torn between Tony & Jackey and Beauty Brick. As for service and price, Tony & Jackey is known to have expensive services and mostly based on hair length while patrons kept coming back and recommending Beauty Brick for the perfect curls they do.

Late Thursday afternoon, I sent a message to book an appointment for Saturday and received a response after a while they even called for confirmation late Friday afternoon.

My BFF and I arrived at Beauty Brick before 9am. The place looks cozy. We were greeted by the staffs and the receptionist checked my schedule and ushered us to their couches and offered hair magazine.

art deco at the powder room upstairs of the salon

We were first to arrive at the salon so i got to looked at their wall art and lined up digiperm.

I like how Mr. Shin took his time in checking personally each of the clients’ hair treatments.
The stylist were so warm and friendly. They won't also insist you to avail their other treatment unlike the others.

The Maintenance (as prescribed by Beauty Brick)

1) After digiperm, you can shower next-day but don’t use shampoo. Conditioner only. I don’t intend to wash my hair until after 48 hours to be safe.

2) You can shampoo on the 3rd day.

3) After showering, assuming there’s no more excess water, comb it with a wide tooth comb. Comb only when wet and never when dry.

4) Section your hair twice, left and right side. Then twist gently.

5) Start scrunching. This is a move wherein you cup the twists with your hand from the bottom and bounce them gently. Think of coiling a spring and releasing it.

6) Cup the scrunches and blow dry them while in your fist. A diffuser would make it easier. NEVER with an electric fan.

7) Once dry, separate the curls and apply a wax. They suggest any styling wax.

8) Scrunch throughout the day to maintain curls. No more twisting because it already has product in it. Only when wet.

Overall, my experience with Beauty Brick is above expecations. I'll come back for sure.

Time Duration: 8am to 11:00am
Price Paid: Php3,300 + Php200 tip.

Tidbits:
Beauty Brick will now be known as BLU-AF.

DIY/ Tutu Skirt

Last December, my sister and I decided to go Christmas shopping at SM Calamba. She saw this cute tutu skirt for her 1 year young princess which cost a whooping P499.99! For the cuteness - yeah maybe it will passed. But for practicality, I boast my sister that she doesn't have to buy one cuz i'll make one for my pamangkin! Whew! my..my..my...

well, the skirt is not that hard to make. i search for the easiest way to make a no-sew tutu skirt.

And - here it is!

I made this skirt at about 3 hours. Actually, cutting the tulle cosumes alot of my time that tying it.

Does she look like a princess or a ballerina?

DIY/ Denim Pom Pom Necklace

I am very proud of this DIY. The materials were actually from denim cut-outs ( upcycled denim to maxi skirt) so it's like hitting to birds in one stone! I don't just upcycled my old jeans but i also recycled the cut outs! Good job!

Inspiration from this Denim Pom Pom Necklace came from http://www.littlemissmomma.com/.

I asked my colleague to don my latest creation :)

What else can i do to repurpose my old denims?

Fab Finds: Hortaleza's Keratin Hair Reconstructor

Tryin’ to REVIVE my Damaged Rebonded Hair:  Keratin Hair Reconstructor by Hortaleza

In my search for hair treatments that could help me revive my nearly dying hair. I think I finally found the products that suits me.

I would like to share it with all the girls who has the same dilemma.

On my previous posts, I mentioned using MONDES Ionic Hair Treatment and Black Pelan Hot Oil Treatment.

Here's the my 3rd fab finds:

My Fab Find #3: Keratin Hair Reconstructor for Sensitized Hair by DR Hortaleza

I was looking for Ahglow Keratin Hair Treatment but the salesman at Hortaleza informed me that they no longer cater ahglow because of extensive product imitation.

He recommended, Keratin Hair reconstructor. It has the same effect on hair daw. And maybe I am that desperate that time, I give it a try!
Well, one washing …. Tadaaa! I could really feel the difference. Walang bola. My hair felt stronger and healthier.

I used it everyday. I read kasi from an article that there’s no such thing as sobra specially if your using keratin treatment. It really does wonders with my hair. It actually penetrates and restore the strength and I could finally use the word softness! Haha!
I am now on my 3rd bottle of 500ml Keratin Hair Reconstructor. I seldom used shampoo unless very oily na talaga yung hair ko. Unlike other hair treatments, this one will not have a sticky feeling on the scalp so i use it daily.

                           Bet na Bet:

                 • I felt that it strengthens my hair on first washing

                 • I felt hair softness – at last!

                 • Not sticky on scalp

                 • Affordable – cost only P115 for 200ml bottle and P195 for 500ml bottle

                • At Hortaleza

                           Loss:

                 • Sad to say.. I don’t like the scent of the keratin hair reconstructor. it smells like the first time you had your hair rebond  My friends noticed it too.. I just have to wash it very well. Maybe it takes some time to tolerate it..

On my final note: If you are looking for a salon-like treatment for your damaged or dry hair you could use this. I highly recommend it! Proven my –errr me  I love it!

My First HUMAN NATURE Items

My first purchase from Human Nature has arrived! I thought I’d impatiently wait for the delivery of my items but it took them just 2 days to deliver my goodies – as promised! I’m impressed!

I’ve been looking for a Human Nature dealer near our place unfortunately nada - so I decided to purchase online.

My first item with HN is their citronella bug spray which I bought 2 years ago for my kiddos. My interest with Human Nature perked up when I started looking for a mineral blush. And when I saw their online magalogue and read their advocacies and helpful tips, I made a decision to give it a try.

Here are my purchases:

Basically, i wanna try their mineral cosmetics.
I've been using liquid foundation since then but i've learned that mineral foundation has natural ingredients thus allowing skin to breath.

Mineral Foundation

syempre, i bought na rin their mineral blush! haha

Mineral Blush: 2 for P295 in rosy cheeks and tropical rose

Mineral Blush

as for my kiddo, i bought bottles of bug shield, sanitizers and lip balm. yes! i made my boys try HN's peppermint balm!

I think Bug Shield has improved their packaging coz tthe old mosquito repellant oil spray has an overpowering scent of citronella.

bug shield mosquito repellant and spray sanitizer and lip balm

I was so amazed witheir packaging. Their logo and designs are so cute. Me and my Lemon love the cruelty free bunny logo.

Soon i'll post my reviews for newly bought HN items!

Excited mush to try!

Hortaleza Professional Black Pelan Hot Oil Treatment

Fab Find # 2: Hortaleza Professional Black Pelan Hot Oil Treatment

After Mondes Ionic hair treatment saved by damaged hair, I've realized that there is still hope after all! Haha. I have managed to revive my nearly hair. All we have to do is to make a little changes NOW before it's too late. Have I mentioned that I also bought a wide toothed comb?

For this post, I would like to share my latest fab find – it's the Hortaleza Professional Black Pelan Hot Oil Treatment.

I asked my mom to assist me to #HBC# in Santa Cruz Laguna. My mom and I  love HBC products sooo much! We were looking for a hot oil for our weekly kikay bonding. The sales attendant actually offered me to use the Hortaleza Professional Black Pelan Hot Oil Treatment. What's good about it is it's P198 for 2 bottles! Sulit!

My mom and I tried it immediately at home. It has nice menthol scent-sation which is good on this summer season. We let it stay for 30 minutes of chikahan. After rinsing, our hair looks healthy and feels smoother. So we agreed to use it weekly! I use mine as an alternate with my Mondes Ionic hair treatment.

Hortaleza Professional Black Pelan Hot Oil Treatment contins black pelan silt - an organic substance which is rich in minerals and lipids. Its botanical and mineral components condition the hair and scalp for a healthier scalp and smoother and shinier hair. It's also formulated with Jojoba oil and Vitamin E to make hair healthy.

Bet na Bet:                    affordable at P198 for 2 250g bottles
                                    Exclusively available at HBC
                                    Its organic
                                    Visible results after each washing

Loss:                            The viscous look of the black pelan silt is gooey at first but you'll get used to it J

Product Review:Mondes Professional Ionic Keratin Hair Treatment

Tryin’ to REVIVE my Damaged Rebonded Hair:  Mondes Professional Ionic Keratin Hair Treatment (Part 1)

I am one of those gal who had their hair rebonded and colored and ended up having dry and coarse hair stands. In my case I’ve been doing the rebonding process for almost for years. Just this last session when I noticed that
my hair became brittle and it looks like I have fried hair after each washing.

I let one month passed to see my hair condition will change but -  que horror! It even got worse! It’s a depressing moment for me.

Who else to blame, I am guilty of these hair crimes (perfect!):
1.     Wet hair whitin three days after the procedure.
2.     Tie hair or put it on the back of your ears.
3.     Use of any heating tools: blow drying, hair ironing.
4.     Mess with hair for at least six months –hair coloring, streaks, highlighting.
5.     Use hot water, it will rob it of its moisture.
6.     Do not use a wide toothed hair comb to separate the strands and remove any tangles with great care.  A wooden comb is preferable as plastic combs are known to create frizz due to static.
7.     Do not wash hair in alternate days or try co-washing hair using conditioner as a shampoo and just rinsing it away.
8.     Do not keep hair safe from environmental factors – harsh sun rays, cold winds and the rains. Use a hat or an umbrella.
9.     Do not apply a hair serum regularly to protect it better.
10.  Do not use a leave in conditioner to retain moisture and keeps dryness and frizz away.
11.  Do not use hair masks frequently or get hair spas done for moisture and nutrition.

I do not want to trim my medium length hair nor spend a lot to salon hair treatments. Instead I headed to my ever reliable pc to look for alternative hair treatments for my damaged rebonded hair. I’ve found out that keratin hair treatment rebuilds, restores and rejuvenates damaged hair.
