Kids Talk: COMELEC Disqualifies Laguna Governor

Yesterday, my phone rang while I’m at my desk..

Lemon:           Mommy, pinaaalis na si Gov.. ER ..

( I heard that he’s watching the news on television )

(I’m explaining things at its most understandable way to make him grasp the news)

But come to think of it, at such a young age of 8 years old.. my kid is so concerned with what’s happening around him.
I should be grateful with Hubby for instilling this good values with our kids..

Nike KD V - BHM

Nike KD V – ‘Black History Month’

My son Chico likes this Nike basketball shoes so he suggest that our little Lemon have it as well , which the former gratefully agrees!

So our little one, Lemon and big bro Chico have their new pair of NIKE KD V-BHM size 5.5 shoes - thanks to their dad!

Well, they already know that I will give them their Nike Elite socks as Christmas present so I let them have it and paired with their Nike shoes.

Brand: Nike Nike Basketball
Model: Nike KD V
Color: Anthracite/Pure Platinum-Sport Grey

Hubby and I were not into giving our kids the lavish gifts on their birthdays so we make it a point to give them something valuable on Christmas! My sons were actually looking forward for this season!

Our budding lady, Peach has pink Nike running shoes which she personally picked!

Basketball shoes is really the right present for them aside from the fact that they were all athletic.

I have made an impromptu poem because my little Lemon needs a  tagalog poem on the different bodies of water in the Philippines. I humbly share my poem to all mommies - i know how it feels! LOL

Ang Inang Pilipinas ay pinagpalang totoo

Sapagkat naliligid ng Karagatang Pasipiko

Dagat Tsina, Celebes, Sulu at Mindanao

RUISEY’S Fud Haws

RUISEY's Fud Haws located at P Guevarra St., Poblacion, Santa Cruz, Laguna

As we feel the cool breeze of afternoon rain, having a warm bowl of mami is definitely just right! Who doesn’t love mami?

For a diner that specializes mami, my kids and my hubby would definitely come to RUISEY’s Fud Haws located at P. Guevarra St.,Poblacion,Sta. Cruz,Laguna, Laguna.

Lemon can empty this big bowl of beef mami!

They have the best-tasting beef mami we’ve ever tried! You could really imagined the long hours spent to prepare the broth and the tender beef. This hearty meal cost only P30. Sulit!

Mango takes his time with his warm bowl of beef mami

Another revelation to us Lagunense is their Gotong Batangas (P25). This is not your typical goto for it is doesn’t have rice or malagkit. Ruisey’s Gotong Batangas is a a steamy bowl full of strips of stomach lining from cattle. It is similar to the popular preparation of papaitan. Served it with chopped onions, soy sauce, calamansi and chilli! Talo-talo na’to! haha.

My kids also love halo-halo while I have a big appetite for palabok and maruya! Yum yum yum!

Ruisey’s is open from Mon to Sat. I highly recommend this! You’ll absolutely come back for more!

How did Strawberry Get its Name?

Last weekend, my youngest son Lemon asked –

“ Mommy, bakit strawberry ang tawag sa strawberry?”

It took me a minute before I could reply. I usually have witty answers to his never-ending questions about everything that tickles his curiosity.

But this one is really mind-boggling! It would be easier sana if he’d asked me about blueberry for I could instantly say that the name is due to its color! Haha

For how did strawberry gets its name??? I humbly admit to my little one that I don’t have any idea as to its origin. Instead I promised to get back to him once I have the answer.

So there goes my search for this cutie strawberry. I never expected a lot of amazing facts about this fruit – err plant!

Belonging to genus fragraria, that makes it a close relative of rose plant. While blueberry has a seed inside it, strawberry seems having its seeds on the outside.

Now, remember the parts of a plant we studied on our science class? The part of the strawberry that we eat which we all know as fruit is actually the “stamen”. Stamen is the part that holds the ovaries. On the other hand, the outside seeds that we visibly see is in fact the plant’s ovaries! Ready? This means that the seed is actually the fruit which has a separate seed inside it! (anu raw?) Whew! What a berry complicated anatomy!

Going back to our question, there is no concrete written facts as to how it gets its name. Some believed that farmers have this practice of spreading a layer of grass straws around each plant in order to grow and protect strawberry plant against climate.

That’s it! Hope it satisfies my Lemon’s curiosity and I hope I make sense! haha

Hope this would help mom’s like me.

Do you have a more complete list of school supplies? Please do suggest. Thank you.
